Mongolian Visa Regulations

       “Mongolian visa” means the permit of entry into Mongolian border. Visa shall be issued to foreign national who holds valid passport or document that substitutes the passport.

Visa Level, Classification:

Official (A)	A	Official passport holders, who visiting and residing on official purposes  UN and its specialized organization employees and officials who hold “blue” laissez passer ordinary passport holders, who visiting on official business of international organizations and their family members  Foreign nationals, who hold official and ordinary passports and intend to visit Mongolia at the invitation of State, central administrative and local self-governing bodies of Mongolia, or a political party having seats at the State Ih Hural (Parliament of Mongolia) Foreign nationals, who hold official and ordinary passports and intend to work in Mongolia according to inter-governmental agreement and treaties  Employee of foreign or international press who hold official and ordinary passports
Ordinary (E)	T	Foreign investors and senior management staff to work in a joint venture, branch, or its representative office
	O	Foreign nationals to intend to visit the country upon an invitation by a non-governmental organizations and international humanitarian organizations.
	B	Foreign nationals visiting the country for business purposes
	S	Foreign nationals visiting the country for purposes of study, training and research irrespective to his/her passport
	J	Foreign nationals visiting the country as tourist irrespective to his/her passport
	HG	Foreign nationals visiting the country to work under the employment agreement irrespective to his/her passport
	SH	Foreign nationals to visit or reside in the country upon invitation by religious organizations irrespective to his/her passport type
	TS	Foreign nationals who have been issued the permission to immigrate to Mongolia
	H	Family members of residents of Mongolia for private purpose and foreign nationals visiting the country for private purpose irrespective to his/her passport

Validity Period of Visa  /Enter before/:

In terms of all types of  "Entry", "Transit"visas, validity period refers to period from issue of visa to entrance to the country. For multiple visas, validity period refers to period from departure from country till re-entrance. 

Duration of stay:

Visa duration shall be counted upon next day from foreign national’s entrance into Mongolia.

Visa issuing authorities:

• Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• Mongolia Immigration Agency
• Mongolian Embassies and consulates in foreign countries

Required documents:

Visa request at diplomatic representatives, honorary consulates and border ports will be required following documents:

1. Visa application
2. Valid passports or document that substitutes the passport
3. Visa permission or individual invitation
4. 1 copy of passport size photo 3x4
5. In case of family travel, original and photocopy of marriage and child birth certificate and their translations

 

Following documents will be required in all cases expect above:

1. Valid passport or document that substitutes the passport
   
2. Request from inviter
3. If inviter is organization or entity, original and photocopy of State Registration Certificate of organization/entity
4. If inviter is foreign invested organization or entity, original and photocopy of State Registration Certificate of organization/entity
5. 1 copy of passport size photo 3x4
6. In case of family travel, original and photocopy of marriage and child birth certificate and their translations
7. Visa application.

 

In necessary conditions, visa applicant may be required to provide following documents:

1. Investment proof as foreign investor
2. Reference from Tax Agency
3. Original and photocopy of license if applicant is planning to run activity that requires license
4. Contract with inviting organization/entity will be required from temporary visitor who applies for multi entrance visa.

 

According to the Mongolian Treaty on conditions of mutual visits of citizens, citizens from following countries for following periods for only touristic purpose, unless stated differently, in the treaty, allowed to enter Mongolia without visa.

Service fee

Visa applicants are required to pay visa fee in advance. Visa fee is not refundable in case of visa denial.

Visa application settlement period:

Visa application will be processed within 3 working days ( 8 hrs for urgent processing) upon submission of application. Urgent or at the border visa processing will require doubled stamp duty.

Cautions:

1. According to the Mongolian International Treaties, visit purpose and periods beyond those treaties are obliged to obtain visa.
2. Passport validity period for visa applicants must be no less than 6 months for temporary visitors and no less than 1 year for official and private purposed residents.
